Where you should go on vacation based on your Myers-Briggs type

Never get stuck on the wrong kind of trip again.

Beaches, cruises, tours ... Chances are, you've tried out at least a few different kinds of vacations. Our favorite ways to unwind have a lot to do with our personalities, and it's about time you found the kind of trip that suits you, based on the famous Myers-Briggs personality test. Haven't taken the test yet? Take an unofficial version here to find out which one of the 16 types you are, and what all these letters mean. Bon voyage!

Why go to one place when you can go to ALL THE PLACES? C'mon, you've been dying to hit that open road since you saw this article. You've probably thought about backpacking Europe, but have you considered backpacking Latin America? It's a lot less expensive and perhaps a lot more exotic than London or Paris. Start with Bolivia, one of the most backpacker-friendly countries of the bunch, a place full of attractions, hostels and low prices.

Enough with all these weird vacations ... you want a tried-and-true way to kick back. Head to a seaside resort on the banks of the Red Sea in Israel's famous vacation town of Eilat, where you'll eat delicacies, hang out on the beach, try out some water sports, hit the bars at night and meet friendly people from around the world.

You're sick of dull landmarks and boring conversations. You want something off the beaten track, something mentally challenging. Take a day trip and play The Escape Game, a game where you "solve million dollar heists, decode secret service missions, and navigate through prison passageways." Basically, you and your co-players are stuck in a room, and you have to decode clues to figure out how to break out. These games are all over the U.S., so no need to travel far to get to one. Plus, you can actually tell everyone to cut the small talk ... your lives depend on it.

You love nature and animals and don't get nearly enough of either. Why not spend some time on a dude ranch in New Mexico? You'll get to ride horses, take in the tranquil desert and contemplate the jeweled night skies. Plus, many ranches offer activities like small concerts and painting classes to satisfy the artist in you.

What's free time if not a chance to learn and analyze something new? You may have missed out on space camp as a kid, but there's an adult space academy in Alabama that's right up your Milky Way. You'll get to build model rockets, try out gravity chairs and hear about spaceflight history.

Take a break from work! You deserve it. You rarely kick back, so this vacation should be as relaxing as possible, ideally with some fun new friends. Try island-hopping the Seychelles Islands, a group of more than 100 islands in the Indian Ocean. They're wonderfully idyllic, and various boat tours let you meet fellow travelers during the day and party it up at night. Plus, you can turn visiting the different islands into a game, one you're bound to win.

You're a loyal caretaker who takes pride in a job well done, especially one involving protecting those in need. Volunteer on a conservation project in Mexico where you will work alongside local experts protecting turtles, crocodiles and birds. Plus, animals don't speak English, so you don't have to be outgoing if you're not in the mood.

You're not the sort who wants to relax by a pool all vacation. You want action. You want adventure. You want to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. As the highest peak in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro has long been the pot of gold in the eye of adventurers. As you hike and camp with a new group of friends, you'll explore everything from tropical forests to subzero alpine environments.

You've got the kind of logical, step-by-step thinking that lets you accomplish something pretty cool when you put your mind to it. Plus, haven't you always wanted to live in Victorian times? Just a little bit? Luckily, there's a falconry school in Ireland that teaches travelers to fly hawks around the spectacular grounds of Ashford Castle.

You have an appreciation for the finer things in life and can't get enough of new people. It's about time you headed to a vineyard, where you'll sip quality wine and make new friends to your heart's delight. We've heard good things about one in the Finger Lakes region of New York that's known for its Riesling and gewürztraminer.

You're a natural teacher, and you're great with people, so why not make a vacation out of it? Volunteer in Ghana, where you can teach Ghana’s future leaders through school programs, build much-needed relationships with youth through orphanage partnerships or help heal as part of a rural health care team.

You're a fun and boisterous guest at parties, so why not take that spirit with you full-time? Going on a Caribbean cruise will let you keep the party going 24/7 without the mess of dealing with disorganized fellow travelers. Plus, the cruise plans everything out for you, so it'll give you a break from always having to take control. Not that you're bad at leading people – you're great at it – but everyone needs to let go and relax every now and then.

You want to be able to do what you want, when you want. That's the great thing about getting a Eurail pass; it lets you travel through Europe by train, stepping in and out of countries on a whim, meeting lots of interesting people from other countries and learning what makes them tick. It's backpacking time.

You're an artistic person; why not nourish your inner Monet? Stay at a bed and breakfast at the Ein Hod Artist's Village in northern Israel, where you can take part in tours and workshops. You'll be surrounded by glorious natural flora and fauna and get a chance to meet a lot of great artists ... or quietly enjoy the art on your own.

You love helping people, and you'd really love helping people on a South Pacific island paradise. Why not volunteer coaching kids in Fiji? You'll become a mentor and friend to kids of all ages, teaching them hockey, football, rugby, netball, volleyball, swimming and a bunch of other sports. And in your plentiful after hours, go to a Fijian beach party for whirling fire dancers, traditional dancing and delectable food.

You're sick of rushing from tourist trap to tourist trap that swarms with too many people and too much noise. Aren't vacations supposed to be relaxing? But you don't want to just sit around either; that wouldn't satisfy your thirst for adventure. Instead, take a surfing vacation in California. You'll have all the excitement of riding the waves, along with long periods of time sitting on the board, floating serenely in the ocean and thinking about whatever's on your mind.
