What are the best hotels in the world?

The readers of Conde Nast Traveler give their choices for the hotels that have the most to offer.

What kind of hotel are you looking for when you travel? You may want to be immersed in luxury you can't get at home, or you want to wake up to a spectacular view, or have a choice of food and drink that's second to none. Then the annual Reader's Choice Awards recently published by Conde Nast Traveler is a list you should consult before booking your next trip.

This list of 100 hotels and resorts was voted the best by CNT's devoted reader base, and covers the entire planet from Italy to Israel. Let's count down the top eight spots ...

The interior design of this boutique hotel near the Spanish Steps is supposed to invoke the 1950s esthetic of Salvatore Ferragamo. When you're done walking from the Coliseum through the Forum, and after you tossed some coins in the Trevi Fountain, relax with a glass of wine and enjoy the view from a rooftop deck.

4. ITC Grand Bharat (Gurgaon, Haryana, India)

The Grand Bharat looks ancient, thanks to a design of domes and arches created from pink sandstone. Surrounded by meadows and offering a peaceful spa experience, it's hard to believe chaotic New Delhi is only 30 minutes away.

3. Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve and Wellness Retreat (Clanwilliam, Western Cape, South Africa)

You can fly fish, ride horses and hike at this ranch, and have some pretty mean barbecue. But there's also a spa, cushy accommodations and gourmet dining. And the Rocky Mountain views are spectacular.

Adjacent to Serengeti National Park, this resort offers camping as well as luxury rooms. The camp is mobile, moving to where the best game watching is. But back at the resort, there are tea rooms, billiard rooms, and gourmet dining.

Every hotel on CNT's list will make for a memorable experience, whether you want to experience nature or cruise through your favorite city. It'll definitely be the first thing we look at before we book our next trip.
