7 spa destinations for pampering moms-to-be
Expectant mothers can relax and rejuvenate with pregnancy massage and other body treatments.
Being pregnant can be stressful, both physically and mentally. Fortunately, there’s no shortage of beautiful places around the world where moms-to-be can relax and enjoy the benefits of prenatal massage and more pampering spa treatments.
“Going to a spa, even for an hour, helps you get off your feet, which is really important when you’re pregnant,” massage therapist Serene Woodley told From the Grapevine. “It also gives you the opportunity to relax and mentally connect with your experience of pregnancy.”
Prenatal massage can help reduce swelling, improve sleep and alleviate nerve pain and muscle tension, according to the National Institute of Health. So if you’re expecting or know someone who is, check out these top spa destinations in the United States and around the world.
1. Body Freedom Urban Day Spa Retreat – Melbourne, Australia
With a trained midwife as one of the spa owners, it’s not surprising that Body Freedom Urban Day Spa Retreat is highly rated on Trip Advisor for its pregnancy massage. Performed on a futon with pregnancy pillows, it allows the mom-to-be to lie comfortably on her side with no back strain.
