Malin Head, Ireland: 'Star Wars: Episode VIII'
The town of Malin Head, located on the northern-most tip of Ireland, is about to receive some very welcome out-of-this-world attention.
American director Rian Johnson and his longtime friend Ram Bergman, a prolific Israeli producer, are transforming Malin Head into a major set piece for "Star Wars: Episode VIII." Key actors spotted on location so far include British stars Daisy Ridley and Peter Mayhew and American Mark Hamill. A giant structure that hints at the presence of the Millennium Falcon is also causing a stir.
As for the locals, they're not talking. A veil of secrecy in the form of signed confidentiality agreements has descended on the town, with access roads closed and security tight. According to Time, in addition to no-fly zones by the Irish Aviation Authority, the production is keeping pesky drones away with Wi-Fi blockers.
