Hotel de la Paix, Thailand

Sitting on Cha-Am Beach in the Thai resort town of Hua Hin, Hotel de la Paix is the work of architect Duangrit Bunnag, who is known for his avant garde designs. Even with its austere post-modern feel, this is undeniably a luxury hotel. It easily fits in alongside the best inns of Hua Hin, which is often referred to as the Thai Riviera.

The "Chill Pool" is one of the stars of Hotel de la Paix. This child-free zone (there is a separate swimming space where kids are allowed) is fronted by a bar and surrounded by lounge chairs. The long, thin design is unusual for a hotel pool, but it fits with the cutting-edge design. There are also additional indoor plunge pools and private lap pools in some of the suites and rental villas located on the property.
