Hell's Gate Mud Bath and Spa

Nicknamed the "awesome beast" of New Zealand's geothermal attractions, the Hell's Gate Spa in the city of Rotorua is a mud bather's dream.

In addition to all the pampering and relaxing venues you'd expect from a traditional spa, the site also features nearly a dozen geothermal mud baths. Options include semi-private three-person mud pools to massive 12-person mud lagoons overlooking the site's famed geothermal features. There's even a "twilight" package that allows you to enjoy the restorative hot mineral baths well into the evening hours.

According to the website, the smooth skin gained from applying the geothermal mud can last for up to six weeks.
