The Grindelwald-Männlichen Cableway, Switzerland

The Grindelwald-Männlichen Cableway is one of the world's longest aerial trams. It travels nearly 20,000 feet during a 30-minute journey through the Swiss Alps. Skiers, hikers and mountain bikers use this gondola throughout the year to get from the valley where Grindelwald is located up to the higher ground at Männlichen. Many people, however, ride in the four-person cars simply so that they can enjoy the view of the valley and the peaks.

There is actually a well-worn two- to three-hour sightseers' circuit, of which the Grindelwald-Männlichen ride is the first leg. After the trip up, tourists catch a second tram to Wengen, back down in the valley. They then hop on the Wengernalp train back to Grindelwald.
