Lyon's Vélo'v

Lyon's bike-share program, Vélo'v, precedes Paris's and served as a model for the French capital. Free for everyone for the first 30 minutes (most programs charge a fee from the start or require a membership), it's easy to use for locals familiar with it and tourists passing through.

Perhaps the most flattering thing one can say about it is that the success of the program actually enabled other cities in Europe to have a go at their own bike-share programs.
