Paris's Vélib’

Vélib’ is one of the oldest bike-share programs around, having launched in 2007. It's also one of the largest and most comprehensive, with 23,000 bikes at 1,800 kiosks, none more than 300 yards from any other, on average.

In recent years daily ridership has reached some 100,000 a day, and a major concern – theft of bikes – has been curtailed. Sure, you can stroll around Paris if you'd like, but why not bike?
