Jaffa has, by some estimates, been inhabited for nearly 10,000 years, and its ambience reflects this ancient history. From the narrow alleyways of its Old City to the archeological treasures around almost every corner, the city offers a window into the distant past, all the while cultivating a very modern culture. Perhaps its most important role has been as a port, and even today its waterfront remains a busy hub. If you turn your eyes to the sea, though, sure enough you'll find as soothing a scene as the one in this picture.
