Tokyo, Japan

Rush hour in Tokyo is comparable to New York City – crowded trains, honking cars, an overall air of unpleasantness. Though it may seem daunting to cycle through the city every day to and from work, there is a strong case for bicycling.

Yet those two downsides to commuting are also factors in making Tokyo a safe and convenient city to traverse via bike. Tokyo made the Copenhagenize Index of Bicycle Friendly Cities because of its notable motor safety measures and refined public transit system.
