Peru is best known for its Incan Ruins. Machu Picchu is one of South America's most popular attractions. People arrive at this ancient estate on foot, by train, by bus and even by helicopter. For mountain bike enthusiasts, though, the remains of these famous ancient buildings are not the main attraction because the surrounding slopes hold some of the world's most challenging bike paths.
There are thousands of trails that stretch across the Andes. The adrenaline-inducing, ear-popping 34-mile Olleros Trail is the perfect example of what Peru has to offer. It begins at more than 10,000 feet above sea level and finishes so close to the Pacific Ocean that riders can hear the waves crashing into shore.
