Plain Tiger (Danaus chrysippus)
Zablow puts it best when describing this gorgeous butterfly: it's a standout.
Also known as the African Monarch, this cousin of our well-known Monarch butterfly flutters throughout Asia and Africa. Both members of the Danaidae family share the same tough, predator-deterring nature. Because their larvae feed on milkweed, these butterflies start their defense mechanisms early and are known to butterfly-eating animals as poisonous picks. This has caused other butterfly to mimic the monarchs' appearance – in a way, they spread their pretty patterns across many species.
