This 82-foot cylindrical tank is located in Berlin's DomAquarée, a mixed-use complex that houses a hotel, 30 shops and restaurants, and the Berlin Sea Life Center. According to its builders, the AquaDom is the world's largest free-standing aquarium. It weighs more than 2,000 tons when filled to the top (with 260,000 gallons of water), and it holds approximately 1,500 fish.
Besides the AquaDom's towering cylindrical shape and its location, visitors rave of riding on its glass-sided elevator up a tube that runs directly through the middle of the tank. Divers enter the tank for feeding shows outside the glass.
