uShaka Marine World sits at the heart of the Golden Mile, an oceanfront promenade in Durban, South Africa. The complex includes a water park, entertainment and shopping area, and children's museum. Most people come to see uSkaka's Sea World, which claims to be the largest aquarium in the Southern Hemisphere. Its 32 tanks contain more than 10,000 species.
Hammerhead sharks, eagle rays and dolphins are among the list of animal inhabitants. uShaka offers a number of hands-on experiences. Guests can snorkel in a tank that has more than 1,000 fish and scuba dive in some of the larger habitats. It is even possible to immerse yourself in a shark cage and come face to face with the aquarium's most-fearsome residents.
