Aquarium of Genoa, Italy
Italy's Acquario di Genova is one of Europe's most interesting aquariums. Located in Genoa's historic harbor area, this venue is one of the largest of its type in the world. There are 70 tanks, which house more than 400 species (15,000 animals in total). One of the highlights is the remarkable jellyfish exhibit.
More than a million people walk through the Acquario's halls each year. The aquarium was commissioned in 1988 as part of a major waterfront redevelopment project. It opened in 1992 and has been expanded over the years. The most recent addition is an outdoor pavilion that can house 10 bottlenose dolphins.
