Siamangs are among the most active parents in the animal kingdom – mom takes care of baby for the first year of life and even the dad chips in by helping to carry the baby. Siamangs are very social gibbons, and they have families just like we do, as mating couples pair for life. Once the little ones become active, they will still return to nurse and cuddle with mom (see Jambi and her baby all snuggled up?!). By age 3, the little siamang is ready for independence – we'll call this the teenage years. By age 8, the siamang is an adult ready to leave home for good.

For the siamang mother, a bouquet of flowers is the perfect gift – she will gobble them down in no time!
