Going beyond the tourist traps.
Burnham Park in Chicago, U.S.
You may have walked through this park without noticing: the six-mile-long park lies next to the Lake Michigan shoreline, blending city and nature so seamlessly that it delights without announcing itself.
It's a great place to wander through if you're trying to see all the city in a short amount of time; it contains the Museum Campus, which includes the Adler Planetarium, Shedd Aquarium and Field Museum. It also features a lakefront trail that's quite popular with cyclists and joggers.
