Everyone's favorite, the sand cat

The only cat that calls the true desert home, the sand cat (Felis margarita) is easily the most adorable addition to our list. Sand cats are remarkable because they make such use of the rocky and sandy environments of deserts. They hide out between rocks and burrow beneath the sand to protect themselves from the elements. All that practice burrowing pays off when it's dinner time —  sand cats are accomplished at digging for prey. Provided they can take advantage of frequent snacking opportunities, sand cats can go months without drinking water.
