The stories behind 6 famous Einstein photos
There's more than meets the eye when it comes to images of the great man.
The anti-'H' bomb crusader
Albert Einstein was a man of peace. He was no fan of the 'H' bomb, which was under development in both the United States and the Soviet Union in the 1950s. As a high-profile figure, Einstein used his stature to speak out against it. Here he is, photographed circa 1955, during a TV broadcast doing just that.
"Each step appears as the inevitable consequence of the one that went before," he told the national audience.
The candidness of his opposition created a considerable stir in the United States and all over the Western world at the time.
