Scott Burcham, who plays for the Colorado Rockies minor league franchise during the regular season, was a member of this year's Israeli team. Japanese fans, who hold the game of baseball in very high regard, were more than eager to get his autograph. And to think he almost didn't make the trip. Just before Israel's qualifier for the Classic in Brooklyn in September, Astros scout Alex Jacobs, who serves as Israel's director of player personnel, found Burcham – through Facebook.
