Train travel is a hit again. Hop on.

The second half of the 20th century saw the number of people traveling by train dwindle. Journeying by car or through the air became more accessible to more people, which meant the train became a less desirable option.

But as the cost of fossil fuels has risen, people have begun to reacquaint themselves with the culture and comforts of train transportation – both in the U.S and overseas – and are returning to this affordable and convenient form of travel. Here are some countries where getting around by train isn't only practical, but also a pleasure.
