Marcus Vinicius D’Almeida, Brazil: Archery

Archer Marcus Vinicius D’Almeida is one of Brazil’s best hopes for a medal this summer. Known as the “Neymar of Archery,” Vinicius D’Almeida took the world stage by storm in 2014 when at just 16 years old, he finished second in an archery World Cup final. His career to date includes a silver medal at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing and three gold medals at the South American Games.

Archery will be contested in Rio with both individual and team events. An archer has 40 seconds to shoot six arrows at a target in the qualification rounds, and 20 seconds to shoot three arrows at a target in the final.
