Steve McQueen

American acting icon Steve McQueen was famous for his love of motorcycles. He owned several classics (including this 1927 model pictured here, now at a museum in Hollywood) and rode a bike through one of the most remembered scenes in "The Great Escape." During the 1970s, McQueen produced the Academy Award-nominated documentary "On Any Sunday," which follows the lives of motorcycle enthusiasts and was widely credited for enhancing the public image of riding. In 1999, nearly two decades after he passed away at the age of 50, McQueen was inducted into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame.
