Yo mamma's so weird, she brews her coffee in a sock. Assuming your mother is from Latin America or South Asia, that is, where the coffee "sock" is popular.
Central and South Americans use this bag as a drip filter, while Thai and Malaysian coffee brewers use a much thinner, butterfly net-like sock, which works like a teabag.
The cool thing about this sock, compared to say, an ordinary paper filter, is that it's reusable. Coffee makers rinse the sock with water between uses, which allows the oils and residues to build up, adding more taste to future pots.
