The art of the café

Some cities have it and some don't. We're referring to a vibrant café culture, of course. It's not simply about having somewhere to grab a coffee in these cities. It's about the importance of having places where time slows and communities converge.

Welcoming everyone from artists and architects to writers and chefs, these are places where people from all walks of life are welcome to meet up, mix and partake in an open discourse. They're places where commercial concerns take a backseat to the greater good of the community, and, if nothing else, where people can pop in for a quick refreshment before heading on their way.

From Stockholm to Seattle, we offer up a list of places that get it right.
