Albert Einstein

The world's most famous genius was also a vegetarian – for a short but pivotal time in his life. In his elder years, Albert Einstein admitted in letters to friends that he was eating meat "with a guilty conscience. About a year before he died, Einstein wrote a letter to a physician friend of his, Hans Muhsam, about his newfound passion for vegetarianism:

"So I am living without fats, without meat, without fish, but am feeling quite well this way. It always seems to me that man was not born to be a carnivore."
