Beersheba, Israel

Despite startup superpower Tel Aviv being just a few hours north, this southern city has carved out a place for itself in the tech world, much thanks to a focus on cybersecurity, an increasingly important consideration for any online actor. Other tech stalwarts already in Beersheba include EMC, PayPal and Lockheed Martin.

A new billion dollar technology park that is still being constructed piece by piece, pictured, will only make the city more formidable. When completed, it will encompass 16 buildings on 23 acres, with 2 million square feet of office and lab space, a conference center and a hotel.
