One of the most remarkable green roofs we've seen is at the School of Art, Design and Media at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. The five-story structure blends so well into its natural environment that you can barely even tell it's a school building from a distance! The glass façade allows ample natural light to illuminate the interior as well as continuity that allows students and educators to connect with the building and its surroundings. The grassy green roof is not only used as a meeting space for students, faculty and visitors, but this eco-building insulates itself, cools the surrounding air and harvests rainwater for landscape irrigation.
Singapore-based firm CPG Consultants designed the school to encourage non-linear thinking and promote creativity.
