NASA’s Valkyrie robot

Before we ever set foot on Mars, NASA intends to send a team of humanoid robots to scout and possibly even build a town in preparation.

The "Valkyrie" – a 6-foot-tall, 290-pound bipedal robot – is currently being tested as a precursor to the humanoid creations that may one day assist us in exploring the red planet.

Tasks currently being prepped and tested for Valkyrie include the cleaning and maintenance of solar panels, repairing habitat electric panels, and the exploration and recovery of samples from the Martian landscape.
