M. Wells Dinette: Queens, New York
M. Wells was once a popular Queens dining spot before it closed and moved house. Now it's located in the borough's MOMA PS1 modern art museum. While not as snazzy as other restaurants on this list, the ambiance is one of a kind, replicating as it does a school cafeteria.
Fortunately, the food is nothing like the tater tots and dried-out hamburgers of your youth, that is unless your school served such gems as a steak tartare sandwich and grilled cheese and foie gras.
