8 video games we can't wait to play in 2018
The Wild West, Spider-Man and a new adventure with the forest spirit Ori all highlight a magical 2018 for gamers.
'God of War'
In a departure from the well-treaded worlds of Greek mythology covered by the previous seven games in the franchise, the upcoming "God of War" will instead focus on Norse mythology. The third-person action adventure, long a flagpole series for Sony's Playstation, will focus on the warrior god Kratos and his younger son Atreus.
For Kratos, "the stakes are just so much higher," American creative director Cory Barlog told Rolling Stone. "He has to teach his kid about the massive burden of being a god. For Kratos, being a god is knowing that there's a target on your back all the time. Everyone wants to take him down because he's a threat."
Besides its intense action, "God of War" also promises to deliver one of the most graphically impressive experiences yet in this console generation. Volumetric lighting, high frame rate and gorgeous art direction all come together to raise the bar in interactive storytelling.
"God of War" is expected to come out swinging in early 2018.
