'Anthem'

Developed by Canadian studio Bioware, "Anthem" is an online multiplayer role-playing game that places gamers inside an exosuit called a Javelin. Much like superhero suits, these high-tech power-ups include unique weapons and bestow superhuman abilities.

According to Aaryn Flynn, general manager of Bioware Edmonton, fans of "The Last Jedi" or the most recent Marvel or DC Comics film will likely enjoy "Anthem's" contributions to the science fiction genre.

"[It's] very much like Star Wars, very much like the Marvel universe, where you see a lot of amazing things happening, but we don't worry too much about why they're happening, or how they're happening, the science of it," he said. "... This one is much more about just having fun in a game world that is lush and exotic and really sucks you in."

Bioware is betting big on "Anthem" and its beautiful alien world to be the start of a string of games lasting well into the next decade. Expect this one to arrive in the fall of 2018.
