'Monster Hunter: World'

The fifth iteration in the "Monster Hunter" series, a highly successful franchise in Japan and other Asian countries, "World" is the biggest attempt yet by developer Capcom to capture the attention of the rest of the globe. Played from a third-person perspective, the game revolves around hunters whose task is to take down or capture large monsters roaming around the countryside.

"There’s constant surprises – not just for players, but also for us," Japanese director Yuya Tokuda said. "We’ve set up the rules for how they should behave, but in that sense we didn’t script monster behavior – we just gave them rules to behave by, and we still get surprised by how they respond to those rules."

In addition to single-player mode, the game will also support online four-player co-op, so you and your friends can enjoy a bit of monster hunting together.

"Monster Hunter: World" in slated to launch in January 2018.
