8 video games we can't wait to play in 2018
The Wild West, Spider-Man and a new adventure with the forest spirit Ori all highlight a magical 2018 for gamers.
'Red Dead Redemption 2'
Eight years after its predecessor set the standard for Western-themed action-adventure gaming, "Red Dead Redemption 2" is once again poised to raise the bar on the genre.
Developed by American studio Rockstar Games under parent company Take-Two Interactive, the title focuses on the story of outlaw Arthur Morgan, a member of the Dutch van der Linde gang.
"We took a different point of view, which is that very occasionally westerns capture the imagination of the public," Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said in 2016. "When we launched 'Red Dead,' it did. And those times were right for that. And I think the times are right for a big, sprawling, optimistic view of America again – and that's not meant to be cute."
As two trailers have shown, Rockstar has once again crafted a lush and living depiction of life in the 19th-century Wild West. Gamers interested in saddling up for this new adventure should expect to be handed the reins to the title sometime in spring 2018.
