'Star Wars: Episode VIII'

For the first time in the franchise's history, "Star Wars: Episode VIII" will pick up exactly where the last film ended: with Rey handing a lightsaber to a visibly stunned (and speechless) Luke Skywalker. Rumor has it, "Star Wars: Forces of Destiny" could be its title.

Helmed by American director Rian Johnson and Ram Bergman, a prolific Israeli producer, "Episode VIII" will reportedly find Rey enhancing her force powers under the guidance of Skywalker.

"We're doing night shoots; that's where you sleep all day, you get up in the late afternoon, and go to work, and as soon as it gets dark you film until the sun comes up the next morning," actor Mark Hamill, who plays the aged Skywalker, told fans at Salt Lake Comic-Con.

Besides it darker setting, "Episode VIII" has also been described as darker in tone, with heavier emphasis on character development. This latest chapter in the Star Wars galaxy will arrive in theaters on Dec. 15, 2017.
