7 movie sequels that outdid the original at the box office
With 'Star Wars' making box office history, we take a look at other times when lightning struck twice in Hollywood.
'Toy Story 2'
Considered one of the greatest sequels of all-time, "Toy Story 2" marked the return of Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the rest of the computer-animated gang from Pixar's most beloved franchise.
The plot revolves around the accidental sale and purchase of Woody by a collector and the efforts of his fellow toys to save him. Despite production issues (the film was originally intended to go straight-to-video), critics absolutely adored this second entry, earning the sequel an extremely rare 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Thanks to a great story, animation and returning voice talent from the likes of Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, "Toy Story 2" went on to gross more than $245 million at the box office, a 28% improvement over the original.
