Hugh Jackman in 'X-Men'

Back in 2000, Australian actor Hugh Jackman won the hearts of superhero fans everywhere playing the cynical, badass mutant Wolverine in Israeli producer Avi Arad's "X-Men." The role, which Jackman would go on to play an additional eight times, demanded both physical transformation and some legendary facial hair.

"I’m not sure I’m proud of it," Jackman joked of his epic Wolverine beard. "It’s something I inherited from my father; luckily not the back hair as well. This is part of my heritage, that’s one thing I can do relatively easily. In fact, in my sleep I can do it."

Jackman will give fans one final performance as Wolverine with the gritty, R-rated "Logan" this coming March. The film, directed by American filmmaker James Mangold, features a grizzled, older Wolverine attempting to save a young girl from a nefarious organization.

"Basically, it’s going to be different," said Jackman, who sports a full beard for the film. "Very different in tone and hopefully to anything we’ve done."
