9 legendary beards of Hollywood
If there was an annual award for 'Best Beard,' these actors would win every time.
Leonardo DiCaprio in 'The Revenant'
For his Oscar-winning role in the survivor thriller "The Revenant," American actor Leonardo DiCaprio grew a thick mat of facial hair to mimic that of a 19th-century fur trader.
"I don’t think I’ll have a beard like that ever again, unless it’s for a role," he told comedian Ellen DeGeneres. "It’s hard to maintain. Stuff gets in there. You’re eating and then food falls in."
"The Revenant," helmed by Mexican director Alejandro González Iñárritu and Arnon Milchan, a prolific film producer from Israel, was one of the most challenging productions in modern filmmaking history.
Besides spending six months growing out his beard, DiCaprio also endured sub-zero temperatures, wading through frozen waters, and even consumed the raw liver of a bison.
"It was one of the toughest films I've ever been a part of," the actor added.
