Directed by American filmmaker Steven Soderbergh and produced by the Israeli father-son duo Arnon and Yariv Milchan, "Unsane" is a psychological horror about a woman who is involuntarily committed to a mental institution. While there, however, she begins to suspect that her surroundings may be a product of the very illness she's suffering from.
Starring British actress Claire Foy in the lead role, with supporting characters by American actors Jay Pharoah and Juno Temple, "Unsane" adds a couple unique twists to the genre. For one, the film was shot using multiple iPhones, a departure from the usual hardware-heavy film sets of similar Hollywood productions. For another, the entire shoot lasted only a week and a half.
"However long it was, it was so quick, but it was just a dope experience," Pharoah told Entertainment Weekly. "The movie kind of reminds me of some reality-type horror — almost 'Get Out'-ish, but different, which feels good."
"Unsane" will aim to get inside the heads of audiences on March 23, 2018.
