Directed by American filmmaker Ryan Coogler, Marvel's "Black Panther" is widely expected to make a giant early splash at the box office. Starring American actor Chadwick Boseman in the title role, as well as Martin Freeman, Angela Bassett, and Forest Whitaker, the film focuses on the Black Panther teaming up with a British spy to prevent the outbreak of a world war.
"I grew very into pop culture, very into comic books, so it’s something that is just as personal to me as the last couple of films I was able to make," Coogler said recently. "I feel really fortunate to be able to work on something I’m this passionate about again."
According to critics, "Black Panther" has the opportunity to be a seminal pop culture event much in the way of "Wonder Woman." We'll find out how sharp this film's claws are when it pounces into theaters on February 16, 2018.
