7 female stars who proudly shaved their heads for roles
From Natalie Portman to Charlize Theron, these actresses aren't afraid to shed their locks in the name of good storytelling.
Having played the villain in the upcoming "Thor: Ragnarok," Australian actress Cate Blanchett is no stranger to roles that demand a physical transformation. In the 2002 romantic thriller "Heaven," the actress shaved off her iconic blond hair to play a fugitive on the run.
Unlike other actresses on this list, this wasn't the first (or last) time Blanchett chose to sport a close cut.
“Shaving off my hair is so liberating," she said in an interview. "I had to do it once for a film role, but I’ve done it periodically too. At school it was probably to rebel, but I cut my hair short a few years ago and I’m thinking about doing it again.”
As for her preferred razor number, the actress admitted she enjoys a short #2.
