Karen Gillan

After starring in the 2013 horror film "Oculus," Scottish actress Karen Gillan shaved off her red locks to play the alien cyborg Nebula in Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy."

In an interview, Gillan said the experience was completely liberating. "I feel like I always had this long hair and to get rid of that is a total identity change. To see how people react to that is different – is interesting as well."

While she returned for the 2017 sequel with American actor Chris Pratt, Gillan revealed that her haircut this time around did not leave her completely bald.

“I shaved half of my head this time, but they took away the butt – like, the underneath half of my hair, and then left the top part," she said. "That was the best gift ever.”
