Based on the Marvel comics character and set in 1940s America, "Agent Carter" focuses on a woman named Peggy Carter struggling to find her place as a secret agent in a male-dominated society. When Carter, played by British-American actress Hayley Atwell, partners with Howard Stark to clear his name, she's ushered into a world filled with danger and high-stakes consequences.
Much like Jason Bourne, Carter's fighting style relies more on ingenuity and nearby objects than any particular superpower.
“I think what Marvel has done kindly and brilliantly is that they’ve used her skills,” Atwell said in an interview. “She doesn’t have to be good at martial arts, but she’s very capable and resourceful. She’s a dirty fighter which is more my style.”
To pull off Carter's physicality, Atwell pushed herself hard – working out four hours a day, six days a week.
"I felt better than I’ve ever felt in my life," she told the Telegraph. "What struck me most, though, was the powerful effect that it had on my mind. I felt so awake, and so alive, with such a good energy."
