'Assassin's Creed Syndicate'

Since 2007, French game studio Ubisoft has been mixing together action-adventure, science fiction, and history for its "Assassin's Creed" franchise. The latest installment, "Syndicate," takes place in 19th century Victorian London; with gamers tasked in defeating a mysterious organization through stealth and strategy.

"For the first time in the history of the brand, we are tackling an era where we have photographs," French creative director Marc-Alexis Côté explained. "We have videos. Just a bit later, like the 1880s, but that’s what gave us inspiration for things like building the traffic system – seeing the streets of London being so filled with people."

"Syndicate" has received wide praise from both critics and players for its gorgeous recreation of London and engaging gameplay. Hollywood will next attempt to court favor, with a film adaptation of "Assassin's Creed" from Israeli producer Arnon Milchan and starring German-Irish actor Michael Fassbender coming this December.
