The intriguing life of movie producer Arnon Milchan
From 'Pretty Woman' to 'The Revenant,' Milchan is an iconic Hollywood heavyweight unlike any other.
He thinks the movie biz is tough
Despite his own success in moviemaking, Milchan believes people seeking to follow in his footsteps would be well-advised to try another career. "The movie business stinks," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "If somebody asked me, 'What's a good way to make money?' I would say, 'Stay away from the movie business, period.'
Before "The Revenant" became a critical box office success and later won the Best Picture Oscar, Milchan says he had more than $300 million invested in the project. So what keeps him in the game? His love for the industry. "All you pray is to break even or make a little bit," he added. "If I took all that money and put it in the bank, I'd make five times more, without risk. But I'm a junkie."
