The evil Mumm-Ra worshipped spirits represented by four anthropomorphic statues of a boar, ox, vulture and crocodile. In return for his services, the spirits provided him with virtual immortality and supernatural powers.

When Shuki Levy, a prolific Israeli composer, created the theme to "Masters of the Universe," he also revealed the three characters who know He-Man is really Prince Adam. The music was notable for being the first to use pop music in its score.

American actor Ernie Hudson, who rose to fame in the 1986 film "Ghostbusters," was the only actor from the original cast to audition to voice his character Winston in the cartoon spin-off. Ironically, he lost the role to American comedian Arsenio Hall.

American actor James Avery provided the voice of ninja Shredder from "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" over seven seasons. A talented voice artist, Avery also enjoyed roles on both "The Real Ghostbusters" and "Hulk Hogan's Rock 'n' Wrestling."

ALF, which stands for "Alien Life Form," took on the name Gordon Shumway in the animated spin-off from the hit TV series. The cartoon, executive produced by Israeli Haim Saban, chronicled the adventures of Gordon on his home planet of Melmac.

Japan and South Korea handled all of the animation responsibilities for the successful U.S. series. Japanese artist Shōhei Kohara is largely credited with the initial designs for several iconic Transformers, including Optimus Prime, Megatron and Starscream.

The '80s cartoon "Popples," which featured an earworm-worthy theme song by Israeli composer Noam Kaniel, focused on colorful creatures with magical pouches that could make items appear from another dimension.

Contrary to all his evil scheming, Mumm-Ra had a huge soft spot for his beloved pet bulldog Ma-Mutt. Unlike other dogs, Ma-Mutt could transform into a giant version of himself, fly and even talk. All the benefits of being best friends with an undead, all-powerful mummy.

"DuckTales," which debuted in 1987, was the most successful of Disney's early attempts to create high-quality animation for a TV series. Kids loved the show so much that it spawned a feature film and the spin-off "Darkwing Duck." Disney XD recently announced a reboot of "DuckTales" for 2017.

In the series "Disney's Adventures of the Gummi Bears," the magical bears gain the ability to bounce to unusual heights when they consume GummiBerry Juice. Other species, such as humans and ogres, gain super strength.
