A man walks in snow near palm trees in Jerusalem after a rare, recent snowstorm descended upon the city. People in Jerusalem woke up to several inches of snow. It was actually the second second major blizzard in Israel this winter.

So, how often does it snow in the Mediterranean? In a 1962 blizzard, Barcelona received more than 20 inches of snow. More recently, in 2009, a snowstorm hit Palermo, Italy. As for Israel, the country usually gets a little snow each year.
