Though many here in the United States sulked through cloudy skies last night, unable to glimpse the rare supermoon eclipse, others around the world were able to capture amazing photos of the lunar event.

Along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea in Netanya, Israel, for example, the supermoon shone bright and dazzled onlookers throughout the evening. As the Earth wedged its way between the sun and the moon, a red shadow set the full moon blazing in an unforgettable display of nighttime beauty.
