Spring weather brings people out to play
As temperatures warm up, Israelis cool down in the water.
It's springtime! With winter finally shedding its protective coat over us and welcome warmer weather arriving, people are heading outside to enjoy the sun's rays.
This week, thousands of Israelis spent the day outdoors. In the photo above, a couple and their dog enjoy a walk in the Dead Sea and, below, kids frolic in a pool nearby.
"Israel in spring heralds the start of a display of beautiful colors," says Edie Barr, who enjoyed the weather this week at her home halfway between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. "The countryside is still green from the winter rains; wild flowers such as purple cyclamen, bright red poppies, yellow daisies, lavender wisteria, blue lupin and purple thistle begin to populate the fields and mountainsides until late spring. As the rainy season ends towards mid April, each day becomes bright with constant sun and increasing warmth – a sort of Goldilocks-like climate: no longer too cold and not yet too hot."
